The smell of fresh coffee has me waking from a deep sleep. Looking around to remember last night has a smile on my face. I see Allen with shorts on, sitting at the table area in the corner of the room drinking a cup of coffee. His eyes land on me instantly.

“Good morning, sunshine.” Picture perfect. This is what I would love if I wanted to be in a relationship with a man. Forget about that; there’s coffee to drink.

I slide out of bed and find a robe lying at the foot of it. Wrapping it around me, I walk over and sit on his lap.

He looks up with understanding in his eyes. “I get it. How about we order room service and enjoy the day cuddling?” his eyes cast downwards, looking at the floor. He glances back to me, “Or we could do something else? Just let me finish the day with you.”

He’s asking to spend time with me. I don’t know whether to run because of my heart or stay and just enjoy myself for once.

I stay silent for a moment, trying to think about what I should do. The feelings he is bringing out in me has me wanting to run as far away as I can get. But, on the other hand, I want to stay and see where this goes.

Allen clears his throat, “We don't have to. It was just a suggestion. If you want to part ways now, then I understand.” He places his fingers under my chin and raises my head to look at him. “I'm not going to pressure you, Jessica. It's your decision. There will be no hard feelings, no matter what you decide.”

I release the breath I have been holding and make a split-second decision.
